What’s New?
Advanced Automation Improvements
Scheduled background jobs in Advanced Automation now run independently of one another, ensuring that a
long-running process for one community no longer delays jobs for others – scheduled jobs should no longer be
skipped or delayed.
Feature Overview
Advanced Automation has been updated so that background jobs will run independently and concurrently. This will
improve the predictability and stability of critical jobs like lockbox and AP Automation.
- No more blocked jobs: Communities with time-sensitive automated tasks — such as lockbox processing or AP
payments — will see those jobs execute reliably on their configured schedules, even if another community’s job
is running simultaneously. - Improved reliability: Scheduled jobs that previously appeared to be silently skipped or missed will now fire as
expected, reducing the need for manual intervention and support escalations. - Predictable performance: Advanced Automation will provide consistent, on-time execution across all customers
and job types
Accounts Payable (AP) – Closed Period Protection
(Edenred & Avid customers)
Caliber now provides clear, actionable feedback when invoices or payments are submitted to a closed
accounting period via the API from our AP partners, preventing silent failures and helping teams resolve
posting issues quickly.
Feature Overview
When integrated AP systems (such as Edenred or Avid) submit invoices or payments via the Caliber API, it is possible for
a transaction to reference a period that has already been closed in Caliber’s accounting records. Previously, this could
result in unexpected behavior without clear guidance on what happened or how to resolve it.
- Invoices submitted to a closed period: When an invoice is posted via the API to a closed accounting period
and the client is on accrual accounting, Caliber will place the invoice on HOLD, record the original posting
intent in the invoice log (including the attempted GL date). This preserves the invoice for review without
corrupting the accounting period. - New alert — Invoice Posted to Closed Period: Users can subscribe to a new system alert to be notified
when this occurs. The alert includes the invoice number and the attempted posting date, and clicking the alert
navigates directly to the invoice for quick resolution. - Payments submitted to a closed period: When a payment is posted via the API to a closed period, Caliber
will now return a clear error response — “Cannot post the payment to a closed period” — to the payment
partner and generate a separate alert advising staff to address the transaction in Caliber or coordinate with
their AP provider to avoid an out-of-balance condition.
Benefits:
- Clear visibility into posting exceptions
- Accounting integrity: Invoices are held rather than silently posted to closed periods, keeping financial records
clean and auditable. - Faster resolution: Direct links from alerts to the affected invoice reduce the time it takes to identify and resolve
closed-period posting exceptions
