Credentialed Access- Hardware Readers
READERS
The FRONTSTEPS Dwelling software system ends at the gate controller if there is no interface/sub-controller connected to the main controller. If those devices are present, the system ends at the sub-controller/interface. Downstream from those devices are inputs from readers (which can be any model that allows Wiegand wiring) and outputs to gate/door systems.

We have multiple examples of readers that are used with RFID access devices, but a reader can be any device with a Weigand output connected to a gate controller. An example in use is a Weigand Keypad. The keypad receives the pin from a user and sends a correctly formatted number to the controller. Other devices can be used if they meet the wiring and number format requirements. The system allows flexibility when choosing the input device desired for a given project.
